First Attempt with Steak

by Sky.Live on Jun.05, 2009, under Food

I went to Isetan over the past week and found a very nice rib eye in Isetan supermarket, cant resist it beside being very expensive RM6.99 per 100gram, and the small little rib eye cost me RM17.00. I have no experience of marinating, cooking steak before therefore it’s my virgin experience this time.

Wanted to cook it a few times, already defrooze it and ended up in the freezer again. Finally took initiative to cook few days back, in a very rush manner, having only 1 hr to cook, eat, and wash up before class time.

I didn’t really know how to marinate it either, so i just put what ever there is in my house, seasoning powder, olive oil, vinegar, salt, soy sauce etc. Pan fried it on a pan with some olive oil, made some salad and all done. This is the final product:

whole

Salad dressing as usual, lemon with olive oil

steak

Incredible meat, but a little overcook because rushing with time.

innerA little overcook, suppose to be half done, but it’s already three quarter done, neverthesless it still taste quite decent, beginner’s luck huh!! xD

Today’s Breakfast

by Sky.Live on May.13, 2009, under Food

It’s brunch more likely, having it at 11.00am+

Today is my first attempt of making garlic bread.

The Ingredient

  • Breads
  • Garlic, I put too much garlic and turn out to be very spicy
  • Butter
  • Cheese

garlic

Mess up everything and you are done, put the garlic spread on the bread and bake it.Some improvement I have to consider, more butter less garlic. Do away the cheese too maybe.

It’s a very fattening dish, almost put quarter book of butter into this small bowl..

Are you qualified for top grammar school?

by Sky.Live on Apr.26, 2009, under Uncategorized

I bump across this reality TV show named 3Rs. In the show they bring the top scorer of GSCE into a reality show where they will take a tuition and sit for exams how the way 1950s student did it. In the website, they featured a test which is the general ability test of 1966

It was designed - for ‘vocational guidance’ - for 14- and 15-year-olds in secondary modern schools or children aged 13 years and older in grammar schools. It is quite similar to some of the tests found in 11-plus exams.

The test is pretty much straightforward, with a few rules:

1. Answer the questions as quickly and as carefully as you can.
2. Do not spend too long on any question you find too difficult – go on to the next.
3. You will have 45 minutes to do this paper.
4. Do not ask any questions after you have been told to start. Just do what you think is right.

test

I break some rules tho.. spending almost 1hr 15mins, i cant imagine that you are suppose to take such a test which would decide your future.

Half a century ago, children’s futures were often sealed at the age of 11 when they took the ‘11-plus’ exam. Success in this led to an academic education at grammar school and, perhaps, university. Failure - which was the result for the great majority - led to what was often an inferior education at secondary modern school, from which students usually went straight into work.

Give it a try here

Foobar

by Sky.Live on Apr.25, 2009, under Entertainment

Foobar always been my partner for playing music since I started using it from day one. It’s offer almost unlimited possibility of customisation. I always like foobar for it’s functionality over its appearance, in fact it is really a tedious job to make foobar look nice. I tried Br3tt’s setting and this is how it look like:

foobarIt look very good but everything is soo complicated that I found it difficult to perform some task which I usually easily done on it, nevertheless it offer some good idea which I should consider incorperating into my future foobar’s setting. Another downside is the CPU and RAM usage which is like..

foobartask4 times the memory requirement compared to my setting, the setting include some complex scripting which I believe had contribute to the rise of memory usage.
